Michael Lee Bradley

November 13, 1937 — July 9, 2024

Duluth

Michael Lee Bradley passed away peacefully in his home on July 9. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he left us with his loving family at his side.

Born November 13, 1937, to Grace and Wilbur “Bill” Bradley of Dubuque, IA, he was the first of five siblings. After graduating from Oshkosh High in 1955, he entered the United States Naval Academy and, in 1958, met the love of his life, Cynthia Wollaeger.

After graduating in 1961, Michael received his “wings of gold” as a naval aviator. He married Cynthia in Oshkosh in 1963, and the two set out to see the world, enjoying all the Navy had to offer while stationed in Florida, Hawaii, Japan, the Philippines, and California.

After his service, the pair moved to Minneapolis where Michael flew for Northwest Airlines. When a lengthy strike waylaid his flying career, he and Cynthia moved north to Duluth where they bought a Plywood Minnesota franchise in 1974. This evolved first into the Floor to Ceiling Store and then Bradley Interiors, which remains today.

Between the family and business, Michael always worked hard, but was equally skilled in the arts of leisure. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, traveler, Packers fan, bargain connoisseur, and happy hour enthusiast. He was also a longstanding and loyal congregant of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.

Always measured with his words, he’ll be remembered for his near-unshakable calm, probing mind, warm sense of humor, and deep commitment to his loved ones. He was truly equal parts strong and kind.

Preceded in death by his mother and father. Survived by his wife of 60 years, sons: Sean (Chrissy), Patrick (Mina); daughter Erin (Brian); nine grandchildren (Quinn, Max, Shea, Jack, John, Oliver, Evy, Eloise, Calvin); three brothers (Robert, Sean, KC (Kevin)) and a sister (Sheila). He will be dearly missed.

Memorials may be directed to Essentia Hospice, 407 E 4th St, Duluth MN 55805.
