Michael Donovan

Michael Kenny (Ken) Donovan, 71, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at his home.

Born June 15, 1946, to John and Helen Donovan, Ken attended Holy Rosary, East High School and Middlebury College before serving as a 1LT in the army in Vietnam. Upon his return, he attended the University of Minnesota Law School and practiced law at Fryberger, Buchanan, Smith & Frederick for 44 years.

A proud lifelong resident of Duluth, he served many local organizations including Harbortown Rotary, the Depot Foundation and Visit Duluth. He also served on the parish council and school board at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary.

Ken was a true gentleman who maintained his grace and dignity throughout his long illness. He was fiercely proud and protective of his family and lived his life as an example of integrity, kindness and fun.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Jeff Sauer. He is survived by his wife Ann; daughters Katie and Megan; son Sean (Jillian) and granddaughter Caelin; sister Sheila (Dates) Fryberger; brothers David (Nancy) and Terry (Suzie); sister-in-law Jamie Sauer; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday January 21st  from 2-4pm at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 E 4th St. Duluth, MN., where visitation will continue Monday from 10am to the 11am Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial with military honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
