Michael Ray Marchand “Whitey”, 66, of Minneapolis, born March 4, 1952 in Duluth, MN, was called home peacefully to be with God on June 2, 2018 after a courageous battle with liver cancer.
Born and raised in the Northland, and proud of it, Mike spent his youth in Duluth and in the last few years lived in Minneapolis.
He spent time as a Journeyman Iron Worker and often spoke of projects he helped work on. Mike enlisted in the army in 1970, he was a very proud & Patriotic American, he always thanked anyone who served for our Country.
Mike spent each day living his life to the fullest, trying new things, and making others smile; he will be remembered for his very generous personality, and the humor he brought to any situation. Mike was a true artist and was very creative. He was kind, witty, considerate, outgoing, positive, thoughtful, and always wanted to teach his children and grandchildren to be the best they could be.
Mike always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he was passionate about many things in life, loved motorcycles, he also enjoyed great food and a good beer in a frosty mug. Mike loved to share a sweet treat with everyone he could, just to brighten their day.
Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Stella; father, Robert; sisters, Yvonne and Susie; and granddaughter, Shylee.
Michael is survived by his children, Vince, Tina (Troy), Yvonne, Erving, Theresa (Derrick), Marie, Susie, and Tony; grandchildren, Elijah, Nasean, Isaiah, Zakiah, Jonah, Malia, Jasiah, Amiyah, Oakleigh, Courtney, Nick, Grace, Isaiah, Izzy, Seth, and Brekken; and great-grandchildren, Marliana and Mila.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 12-4pm at Dougherty Funeral Home Duluth, 600 East Second Street, Duluth, MN 55805.
