Michael Glen Marshall, 55, passed away on Monday March 17, 2025. He grew up in Duluth, MN. The youngest of six children of Lyman and Joan Marshall. He graduated from Duluth East High School in 1987. While at East he was honored to be in A’ Cappella Choir under the direction of Robert Mix. He was able to tour all over Europe and Chicago with the Choir, making many lifelong friends and memories. At the end of his senior year, he was selected as one of the Birchen Award winners. East’s highest award for service above and beyond expectations benefiting the school’s community in leadership and service. During high school and college, he loved working in the family’s Marshall Hardware in Lakeside. He went on to graduate from UND Aerospace in Grand Forks, ND. His hard work and determination earned him the honor of being on the Dean’s list and a degree in Aviation and Business & Communications, as well as an FAA Commercial Pilots license.
After college, he lived in the Twin Cities working for aviation insurance and financing companies, which then led to management with Wells Fargo and JP Morgan Chase, and Navy Federal Credit Union. 16 years ago, he relocated to Orlando Florida and was privileged to work with some Mickey Mouse company in Orlando for Disney’s private cast member Credit Union called Partners.
Michael loved spending time with family and friends making Magical Memories together. Whether it be in Minnesota, hunting and fishing. Or in Iron River, snowmobiling with many good lifelong friends. Spending time together at the Hill Top house on Lester River Road or at the family cabin on beautiful Sunshine Lake. Or experiencing the Magic together at Walt Disney World or one of Florida’s beaches. In the summer of 2011, Michael put his life and career on hold to come back to Duluth for many challenging months to help both of his parent’s battling cancer until their deaths, as their 24/7 primary caregiver. He felt that was his greatest honor and achievement. He was very kind, thoughtful and would much rather lift people up and encourage them to achieve their dreams, than lean on them or burden them. He would want you to listen to your dreams, let them lead you and guide you. To look inside your heart and unlock the Magic that lies within you. As sung at the end of the daily fireworks at the Magic Kingdom- “We all have the courage to fly, just reach out and touch the sky and find your Happily Ever After!” If you are looking for Michael’s spirit, you truly will find it there in the Magic Kingdom.
Michael was preceded in death by his Grandmothers Myrtle Marshall and Helen Lehmann, His parents Lyman, Jr. and Joan Marshall. He is survived by his brothers, Thomas (Cathy), Scott (Darlene), Alan (Linda), and Steven (Kathi), sister Beth, Aunt Mazie, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Michael knew many amazing people throughout his life, and he would love for you to attend his services and make some Magical Memories together at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Duluth, MN with Burial in Forest Hill cemetery. After the funeral there will be a casual gathering of friends and family to make more Magical Memories together at Skyline in Hermantown. Michaels family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Solvay Hospice House and staff for the kind and compassionate care he received.
