Morgan Elizabeth Long,19, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth after fighting brain cancer with dignity for 18 years. She was born on March 14, 1997. Morgan graduated from Denfeld High School in 2015, and was proud to be awarded the Jack Moon and Hauge scholarships. After graduation she was determined to go to college. Morgan attended Fond du Lac Community College and lived on campus. Morgan enjoyed spending time at her cabin on Rose Lake, fishing in Canada, four-wheeling, tubing, swimming, campfires, going to concerts, movies, hanging out with friends, cooking, looking up Pinterest recipes, spending time with her black labs Cassie and Ally, and watching her brother Steve Jr. play hockey. She loved animals and was a volunteer at Animal Allies. Morgan was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Morgan was sick the majority of her life but she was very persistent in traveling and not letting cancer control her. Her most memorable trips include North Port, Florida, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Disney World, Give Kids the World in Kissimmee, Florida, Canada, and Chicago. Former Duluth Mayor, Don Ness, proclaimed January 30, 2014 as Morgan Long Day. He wanted to honor and recognize her for her bravery, determination and positive attitude as she persevered through her journey. Morgan will be missed forever by her parents: Steve and Molly Long, brother Steve Jr., grandparents: Jim and Betty Pascoe, Don and Myrna Long,uncles and aunts: Rick (Deb) Long, Dan (Jeanne) Long, Jim Jr. (Krista) Pascoe; Amy (Mick) Ankeny, cousins, friends, and her community. The Long family would like to thank Dr. Amuyla A. Nageswara-Rao, Dr.Gesina F. Keating, and Dr. Nicholas M. Wetjen from the Mayo Clinic, and her medical providers from Essentia Health and Solvay Hospice House for the exceptional care that they gave to Morgan. There are no words to express Steve, Molly, and Steve Jr.’s appreciation for the endless support they have been given throughout Morgan’s 18 year long journey. Visitation: will be Wednesday, October 12, 2016 beginning at Noon, with Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00pm, at St. Lawrence Church, 2404 Morris Thomas Rd., Duluth, MN.
