Nancy Louise Bergstrom Cayemberg passed away at her home in Robbinsdale, Minnesota on March 25th at the age of 93. Nancy was born July 28, 1931 in Marquette, Michigan to Emil Otto and Agnes Othelia Bergstrom.
She grew up in Marquette surrounded by eight of her siblings in a family following strong Swedish Lutheran traditions. She was active in her church, Messiah Lutheran, singing alto in the choir from a young age and accompanying them on piano and organ when needed.
Nancy met Raymond Cayemberg through a family friend at the roller rink. They married in 1957 and had five children. She worked at the bank in Marquette as a teller and later at the state prison in bookkeeping. The family moved to Duluth in 1974. Nancy worked until her retirement at St. Luke's Hospital first in payroll and later managing the Physical Medicine department.
Nancy was a consummate volunteer. The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Lakeshore Lutheran, the Seafarer's Center and Meals on Wheels all benefitted from her efforts. She continued her choir years at Good Shepherd as an alto and frequently accompanying them. She was also an election judge for many years. Besides her love of music, especially choral music, Nancy enjoyed camping, genealogy and learning about Swedish culture. She was an active member of the Swedish Cultural Society in Duluth for many years.
Nancy joined her parents and all of her siblings in heaven including sisters Grace Wiggins (Glenn), Judy, and Kathleen Murto (Ray) and brothers Ralph (Myrtle), Floyd (Eleanor), Russell, James, Donald, and Charles (Beverly). She was also reunited with precious granddaughter Cora Ann Cayemberg.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ray, and their five children: sons Daniel (Julie) and Edward (Martina); and daughters Paula Cayemberg, Barbara Cayemberg (Robert Jablonski) and Ronda Hansen. Also missing Nancy are her five surviving grandchildren Casey (Rebecca) Cayemberg, Johanna (Neal) Jarosz, Madelyn Cayemberg, Gus Jablonski, and Greta Jablonski. Nancy has three great grand babies: Ruby and Mabel Cayemberg and Oliver Jarosz. Finally, Nancy is survived by two of her sisters in law Barbara Bergstrom (wife of Russell) and Mary Bergstrom (wife of Donald).
