Naomi “Tommie” Esther Storsteen passed peacefully on April 25, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born March 25th, 1925 in Nuckolls County, NE, and graduated from Superior High School, Superior, NE in May of 1942. Naomi next attended nursing school in Omaha, Nebraska, where she met the love of her life. On December 8th,1945 she married Dr. Kenneth Storsteen in Abadal Lutheran Church, Abdal, NE. Naomi and Kenneth moved several times until 1953 when they moved to Duluth MN. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Sang in the church choir for 38 years, taught Sunday School, and was the church funeral coordinator for decades. She was elected President of the congregation and served twice as president of the Lutheran Church Women’s organization. She volunteered at the soup kitchen, Loaves and Fishes, drove for rehab, and meals on wheels for over 30 years. Naomi was a Golden Club member of the St. Louis County Medical Society Alliance, also served as its president and treasurer. She volunteered as a Girl and Boy Scout leader, and was active in the PTA, and any other thing her children volunteered her for. Naomi led a life of service to others and was the most generous, kind, and strong Christian woman who always could find good in anyone. For recreation she enjoyed canoe trips to the BWCA, skiing, bridge, UMD hockey, the symphony and fish fries on the north shore of Lake Superior. Blessings to Naomi’s wonderful soul as she makes her last portage to the heavenly lake.
She was preceded by her parents Chris and Inger Thomsen immigrants from Denmark, husband Dr. Kenneth A. Storsteen, her sons Paul and Mark, brothers Irving, Carl and Soren Thomsen, sisters Marie Juhl, and Jean Stanley.
Surviving relatives are sister Ann Poh, Green Bay Wi, daughter Jane Storsteen Pine Hill, NJ, Philip (Catherine) Storsteen, Duluth, MN, grandson Erik (Tracy) Storsteen, The Woodlands, TX, great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Thomas Storsteen, grandson Jay Storsteen, St. George, UT, granddaughter Paige Storsteen Duluth, MN, great-granddaughter Grace Naomi Berghorn and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to give a special Thank you to Dr. Hutchinson, all the staff at Ecumen, particularly caregiver Elizaveta Lovnovich Kmetz and to her many friends for all the care you have provided.

Public visitation will be held Friday April 30, 2021 in Dougherty Funeral Home from 5PM to 7PM. A Private Memorial Service will be held at First Lutheran Church at 11:00AM on Saturday May 1, 2021. The services will be live streamed on the Dougherty Funeral Home Duluth’s Facebook page starting at 10:55 AM and a public internment will take place in Park Hill Cemetery at approximately noon.
