Neil Arnold Ruhman, 87 of Duluth, and formally of Gordon, WI, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at the Benedictine Health Center.
Neil was born in St. Cloud to Alfred and Hildegarde (Sendzik) on February 3, 1929. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. After the war he met the love of his life, Mary B. Smith and they married in June 1955. He was employed by Metropolitan Life, and retired from Prudential Insurance.
Neil belonged to Charter Life Underwriters (CLU) and was former President of Whitefish Lake Association. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, crafting, gardening, and woodworking. After retirement he enjoyed much of his time at his lake home he built with his wife of 61 years.
He was preceded in death by parents; son, Brian; sister, Elaine Schmidt; brother, Roger and brother-in-laws, Frank Schmidt, Frank Smith, Bob Smith; sister-in-law Patricia Smith
Neil is survived by his loving wife, Mary; children, Jeannine (Jeff) Doig of Duluth, MN, Linda (Jeff) Chida of Rochester, MN, Scott (Colleen) of Brule, WI; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be 11AM, Friday, in the Dougherty Funeral Home with Visitation one-hour prior.
