Born November 23, 1936 in Duluth, Minnesota to James and Mary Pappas. After graduating from Central High School, he went to the University of Minnesota Duluth, graduating Cum Laude with a BA in Speech and English. He went on to earn his M.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a Ph.D. in Speech and Audiology from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. His career then took him to California until 1985, after which he returned to Duluth and finished his career at Northland Ear Nose and Throat.
Nick enjoyed music, and was part of a singing group, The Escorts, during his college years, and appeared in the twin cities, Duluth and Canada. One of the highlights of The Escorts journey was touring with Sammy Davis, Jr., singing at the Chez Paree in Chicago. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Gus, John, Peter, Kiki, and Kathy. He is survived by his partner of nearly forty years, Barbara; and her family, John, Sue, Jerry and Jeremy; and siblings, Theodora, Urania, Chris; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Twelve Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 632 E. 2nd Street, Duluth with a Visitation beginning at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations to Twelve Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church are preferred. Thanks to the many caring staff members at The Shores, Ecumen.
