Patricia Joan Eng, 84, of Duluth passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Solvay Hospice Home. She had recently suffered a stroke. She was born on November 9, 1934 to Charles and Genevieve Johnson in Ironwood MI.
Pat graduated from Duluth East with a Fulbright Scholarship and attended the University of MN and UMD. She was a devoted wife and mother to her six children. She excelled in Speech in high school and placed first at State in Extemporaneous Speech. She was the first State champion ever at Duluth East in any event as well as being a Scholar. Pat was a kind and generous soul. She would like to be remembered for always putting family first and for being active at Hope United Methodist Church in Duluth. She was a member of Duluth Roundtable for Christians and Jews and the bible study at 1 st Lutheran church. She was in the church choir and circle, and often serving anywhere at a moment's notice. She was also active in PEO, PTA, Eastern Star, and Job's Daughters. She was a state officer of United Methodist Women, a member of the Duluth Garden Club; Toastmasters, a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout Den Mother.
Pat believed in not holding grudges, settling differences before sundown, following the Golden Rule, and when you can't handle something, "Give it to God"
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Clark Johnson and Kay Hankins (Karl). She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Maynard, her sister Sandra Johnson (Robert) of Portland, OR, her children, Steven (Judy) of Duluth, Cynthia Anderson (Charles) of Shoreview, Timothy (Pamela) of Eagan, Andrew of Duluth, Thomas (Jeanne) of Hermantown, and Kristen Jeanetta of Duluth; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. First and foremost was her love for family who will dearly miss her. The family would like to thank her caregivers at Keystone Bluffs Assisted Living.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019 from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Friday from 10am to the 11am services at Hope United Methodist church, 301 W St. Marie St., Duluth, MN. Burial at Oneota Cemetery.
