Patricia Horvath

Patricia Jeannette (Roney) Horvath, 94, of Meadowlands, MN passed away to her heavenly reward on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth.
Patricia was born November 20, 1925 to Carl and Albina (Oulicky) Roney of Floodwood, MN. She attended Floodwood High School where she was very active and excelled in school sports and activities, graduating in 1943. She then worked at Floodwood State Bank as a teller and secretary. She married her husband Frank Horvath on May 28, 1949. They settled into farming and raised their four children in Elmer Township in Meadowlands, MN.
Pat lived and loved farming life, hard as it could be sometimes, without one complaint. She loved living the country life with her family - the dairy farming, haymaking, fruit and vegetable gardening, canning and making preserves, baking, cooking, flower gardening and then becoming a master quilt-maker in her later years.
Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved them all dearly and was so very proud of each and every one.
Pat was a proud member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Meadowlands and enjoyed being involved in the many church activities and fundraising events that helped in the community. Patricia was very small in stature but very big in heart and determination when it came to helping out any worthy cause. Over the years she would make and donate quilts for a multitude of fundraising events. She was most proud of the many quilts she made for the St. Mary’s Annual Fall Bazaar and Quilt & Treasure Auction. She also loved being part of the annual Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament each year, having donated a quilt for auction for the past 25 years.
Pat’s ready smile, her kindness and many acts of generosity will be deeply missed by her family, friends and the many people whose lives were touched and made better by hers.
She was preceded in death by husband Frank; parents Carl and Albina Roney; sister Albe (Lee) Therrien of IL; brother Carl (Lois) Roney, Jr of IL
Patricia is survived by her four children, Frank (Darlene) Horvath of Meadowlands; Patricia Knutsen of Duluth; Judith (Donald) Maxa of Duluth; and Thomas Horvath of Meadowlands (Cindy of Winger, MN); six grandchildren, David Horvath of Cloquet; Scott Horvath of Meadowlands; Mark (Julie) Horvath of Iowa; Jessica Knutsen (Michelle Johnson) of Alborn; Becca (Dustin) Peterson of Meadowlands; Krista Horvath of Hibbing; five great grandchildren, Davriana Horvath of Cloquet; Maddy Horvath and Sammy Horvath of Iowa; Hank Peterson and Charlie Peterson of Meadowlands; numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Rachel Gordon and the medical staff at St. Luke’s and to Benedictine Health Center for their compassionate care.
