Patricia "Patti" Olson

Patricia “Patti” Olson, 81, of Duluth, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on March 2, 2025, in St Luke’s Hospital. Patti was born on August 19, 1943, to Lyle and Vivian (Thompson) Brown in Duluth. She was the youngest of the ‘Brown Sisters’. She was a graduate of Duluth Cathedral High School and married her husband Kenneth (Ken) Olson on August 31, 1963. She and Ken have two daughters, Teri (Sam) Root and Kris (Mike) Peterson.

Patti worked for many years as the secretary at St John’s Church and Holy Rosary Cathedral. She was very active in the church community and loved coordinating St John’s Doughnut Sunday and Holy Rosary’s Holiday Craft Fair. Her happy place was at their cabin on Pequaywan Lake where she would cherish the weekend pontoon rides around the lake with family and grandchildren. 

Pat is survived by her husband, Ken; her daughters, Teri (Sam) Root and Kris (Mike) Peterson; her grandchildren, Taylor Stutsman, Nikki (Darrin) Zwak, Molly (Dan) Burger, and Ryan (Lexi) Peterson; and her great-grandson, Grady Zwak. She was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found her greatest happiness in spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters; Carole Galarneau and Suzanne Anderson.

Pat will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 11:00 am until the noon memorial service in the Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd Street, Duluth, MN 55805. 218-727-3555
