Patrick Thompson

December 11, 1930 — August 25, 2018

Patrick C. Thompson, 87, of Duluth, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, August 25, 2018.  Pat was born in Robbinsdale MN on December 11, 1930 to Raymond and Etta. Pat graduated from Robbinsdale High School; completed St. John’s Seminary; was a Catholic Priest for 10 years completed a Masters in Sociology and Social Work. He taught and was a social worker in a variety of settings. For 44 years he was a faithful member of AA. Pat was compassionate, welcoming to everybody, described by his friends as “being the kindest person they ever met” and never forgot to say “Thank You.”

Some of his passions were teaching Centering Prayer; hockey (aka the Rocket), golf, coffee shops, kids of all ages, storytelling, witty poems, driving in snow storms, his family and friends and of course St Patrick’s Day.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Joseph, and Sean; siblings, Marcella Jacobson, Nancy Cincotta, Quinn Thompson, Mary Jane Herrlin.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol of 49 years; children, Brian (Jessica); grandchildren, Colin, and Charlie; family, friends, numerous nieces and nephews.

The family thanks Essentia Hospice Home Care for their kind and generous care; all the friends and family over the years.

Visitation will be at 9:30AM August 30, 2018 with A Mass of Christian Burial starting at 11AM, in the Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel, 1200 Kenwood Ave, Duluth, MN 55811. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery later.

Memorial preferred to Chum, Damiano Center, and the Spiritually Center at Saint Scholastica Monastery.
