Paul H. Jacobson, 100, of Duluth died Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Martin Luther Care Center, Bloomington, MN. Paul was born in St. Paul to Ernest H and Selma Elizabeth (Larson), on June 28, 1915. Woodrow Wilson was the President - the 28th. Barack Obama - the 44th. At 3 yrs of age the Jacobson family, with little brother, Harry, moved to DULUTH. Until his death, Paul could tell you every address he ever lived, along with the many many autos he bought, repaired and sold throughout his 85 years of driving. Paul graduated from Central High school and then became a man of many professions. He owned a gas station on 47th & Superior St and his future bride of over 69 years, Dorothy Ann Brow, owned a bakery on 45th & Superior St. That's how they met. "Dorothy, you are a great leader and add a lot to the meeting. Your hostess ability is outstanding. You made me feel right at home." It was just the beginning. During their years of marriage, Paul was a milk man, a furrier, a mechanic, and a heavy equipment operator. He was always proud to point out the buildings and highways he helped build and he was fiercely proud to belong to the 49er's. Paul could be described as loyal, helpful, thoughtful, kind, funny, hardworking, a great role model, a loving husband every little girl dreams of, who continued sending love notes, a fantastic dad who plucked us out of an orphanage, a grampa who spent countless hours teaching and playing with his grandkids, and a man of integrity. His friendships lasted a lifetime. He was a staunch democrat, a Twins fan and loved watching wrestling, even though it's "fake". Paul and his bride spent many retirement years traveling the US, pulling their camper. He had a chew of snus (Copenhagen) in his cheek from the age of 14 until his last breath. Paul played a mean game of cribbage, he was a fisherman, he was a smooth dancer, and he could tell a story and you'd swear you had been with him. He converted to Catholicism and was the oldest member of St Michael's Church.
He was pre deceased by his parents, brother, wife, nephew Bill and niece Betsy Jacobson. He is survived by his best man and brother-in-law, Marcel Brow, sister-in-law, Linda Brow, son, Joseph P, (Kari), daughter, Marianna Nelson, Grandchildren, Sheri (Dave) Blesener, Joseph P Jacobson Jr, Timothy (Jennifer), Martin and Angela Cheatham, Great grandchildren, Andrew, Alex and Annika Blesener, Zehra and Zoe Cheatham, and several nieces and nephews.
