Paul Murphy

March 21, 1934 — April 2, 2018

Paul J. Murphy, 84 of Hermantown, died Monday, April 2, 2018 at Solvay Hospice House, with his family by his side.  Paul was born March 21, 1934 in Duluth to James Lloyd and Gertrude Murphy.  He was a graduate of Hermantown High School.   He met Mitzi Bodell and they were married on February 4, 1956 and they made their home in Hermantown. He worked as a truck driver for Franklin Food until he retired in 1996 and he worked part time at Gamble Robinson.  Paul was a former member of St. Raphael’s and a current member of St. Lawrence.   He was also a member of the Teamster’s Retiree’s and the Knights of Columbus.  Paul enjoyed working in the woods, bowling, golfing, traveling and playing blackjack.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo and Pat and his sister, Eileen.

Paul is survived by his wife, Mitzi; sons, Dean and Gregg; brother, Jim Murphy and his sister, Mary Murphy.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Friday at St. Lawrence Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Rd., Duluth.  Burial at Calvary Cemetery.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2 nd St. Duluth, (218) 727-3555.
