In loving memory of Paula Marie Scherber, born 1966 in Alexandria, Minnesota of Jim and Sherryl Plotnik. Paula attended Melrose High School, where she set records as a swimmer. It was there that she met her high school sweetheart, Jeff.

Paula and Jeff relocated to Duluth, Minnesota – the place where they raised their five boys. She took great joy in watching them participate in various sports at Proctor High School. Paula was a mom to many. 

Her kitchen became a staple, and many adored her made-rites, stuffed mushrooms, and lasagna. No mouth went hungry, and there was always plenty of food.

Paula's fondest memories were created at Lake Vermilion. She spent her summers there growing up and continued the tradition with her family, enjoying fishing and concluding the evenings with a fish fry.

Paula worked at Lake Superior Dental, Northland OBGYN, and served as a sales associate at Super One Liquor. Those she served and worked alongside knew her for laughter and kindness. 

Paula was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on October 30th, 2023. She held on through the holidays. The final moments of her life were shared with those who loved her most - her mother, sister, sons and daughters, grandchildren and Dave Mauel.

Paula is preceded in death by her father, Jim Plotnik, and husband, Jeffrey Scherber. She is survived by her mother, Sherryl Plotnik, , sons and wives Anthony (Lindsey), Andrew (Samantha), Ian (Mary), Isaac (Kylie) and Evan, grandchildren Olivia, Aili, Blake, Brooks, Fjord, Logan, and Oslo;  sister Heidi (Mel) Springer and niece Eleanor Springer.
