Pauline "Polly" Amelia Stojevich

October 21, 1933 — February 7, 2025

Duluth

Age 91, passed away peacefully at St. Lukes Aspirus Hospital on February 7, 2025 to be with her Lord, her sons, Anthony, John, and Robert and her late husband, John.

Polly was born on October 21, 1933, in Oliver, Wisconsin to John and Anna Strukel and graduated from Superior Central High School. She worked several jobs throughout her career starting at her parents’ liquor and grocery store and then moving on to work at a Duluth fashion boutique. She and her sister owned a children’s clothing store; she was an accordion teacher at Johnny’s Music Store, traveled throughout the country as a member of the Duluth Accordianaires, worked at Western Electric in Duluth and retired at Stowe Elementary School where she was a lunchroom monitor for 22 years. She loved being with and working around children.

Polly married the love of her life, John (Koke) Stojevich, on September 29,1956 in Duluth, MN. Together they raised six sons, which was the joy of her life.

She loved her family, her friends and animals. Family time was important to her, and Polly and John would make it a priority to take the family and travel the country on annual camping and fishing trips. As to animals, Polly had a special place in her heart for cats, birds and dogs. She often had special treats for each one of them. She was an amazing baker and a very talented cake decorator, even teaching cake decorating at a downtown bakery.

After Polly and John retired, they spent time traveling the world throughout Europe, visiting family in Slovenia and Croatia; they enjoyed Mexico, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Australia, and wintered in Lake Havasu, AZ for 26 years.

Polly was a dedicated member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the KSKJ Lodge, Slovenian Women’s Union, US Steel Retirees, Croatian Group and was a founding member of the Singing Slovenes.

Polly was preceded in death by her sons, Anthony “Tony”, John, and Robert “Bobby”; her husband, John “Koke”; her sister, Agnas “Babe”; and her parents, John and Anna. Polly is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Cheryl), Patrick (Katy), Daniel (Ann-Marie); her sister, Ann Menart; and several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the exceptional nurses and doctors at Aspirus St. Lukes Hospital who cared and comforted her during her final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 21, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 614 99th Avenue W.
