Philip G. Ringhofer, age 81, of Meadowlands, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Hummingbird Customized Living in Meadowlands surrounded by his family.
Philip George Ringhofer was born June 14, 1931, in Elmer, Minnesota, the son of Alois and Josephine (Schweiger) Ringhofer. He graduated from Toivola High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1958. Philip also worked for E.W. Coons, Dow Chemical Company, and retired from Schneiderman's Furniture in 1993. He married Rosemarie Ann Mahnke on October 10, 1964, in Meadowlands. He served as constable of Meadowlands for several years.
Philip was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Meadowlands, Floodwood Credit Union, the Meadowlands Golden Group (Senior Citizens), NRA, American Legion and the Meadowlands V.F.W. He enjoyed gardening, deer hunting, fishing, cutting wood, riding four-wheeler and spending time in the outdoors. He also liked visiting at the Country Market and his road trips to Cook to visit his good friend. His greatest love was spending time with his family. Philip also collected guns and coins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Adele Cancialosi, Margaret Ralidak, Irene Horvath, and Josephine Otten and two brothers, Alois "Louie" and Dick Ringhofer.
Philip is survived by his wife, Rosemarie of Meadowlands, daughters, Valerie (Dave) Tracy of Meadowlands, and Holly (Laura Gould) Ringhofer of Golden Valley, MN, grandchildren, Zachary and Kirstin Lahti, and Brandon Tracy, brother Peter (Betsy) Ringhofer of Meadowlands, sisters, Ann (Dave) Clement of Iron, MN and Donna (Alan) Lennox of California, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Essentia Hospice - East Range Unit for their excellent care of Philip these past few months.
Visitation: 5 pm, Wednesday, October 10, 2012, until the 7:30 p.m. Rosary Service at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Meadowlands and on Thursday, October 11, 2012, from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial at the church. Burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Elmer with military honors. Memorials preferred to the Parkinsons Foundation of Minnesota or St. Mary's Catholic Church, Meadowlands.
