Phyllis Sulkowski

Phyllis Ruth Sulklowski, 79, of Duluth, died Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Essentia Health, St. Mary’s Medical Center.  She was born in Duluth March 5, 1939 to Alvin Fleming and Ruth Eleanor (Shepard) Holmes.  Phyllis married Dale William Sulkowski on August 23, 1958 in Duluth.  She was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church.  Her passions were knitting, crocheting, reading and creating miniatures scenes. Phyllis loved caring for her garden, plants and flowers.  Phyllis loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially watching them participate in their sports, dance and activities.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale in 2009, her son Kurt in 1981, her siblings:  Thomas Holmes, Kathleen Appell, John Holmes and Elizabeth Haller.  Phyllis is survived by her children:  Mark (Gillian) of Occoee, FL, Craig (Lisa) of Rice Lake, Minn, Cheryl (Fred) Eischen of Scandia, Minn and Dean of Chandler, AZ; her sister Joan (William) Abernethy of Duluth; her brother Richard (Patti Jo) Holmes of Duluth; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.  Visitation:  Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 9 AM until the 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church 325 E. Third St.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.  If so desired, memorials to the charity of the donors’ choice are preferred.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 218-727-3555.
