Ray Cullen

Ray Carl Cullen, age 78, of Duluth, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at home. He was born January 6, 1935 in Duluth to Carl A. and Esther L. (Lindgren) Cullen. Ray was a 1953 graduate of Duluth Central High School. He was a U S Marine veteran of the Korean War serving from 1953 - 1956. Ray married JoAnne L. Toewe on August 23, 1958 in Duluth. Ran ran the Sears Sporting Goods Dept. for many years and then worked at Diamond Tool, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Ray also volunteered for many years at St. Luke's Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister Ruth Gunderson. Ray is survived by his wife JoAnne; his children Gregg (Laura) of Plymouth, Minn., Terri Cullen of Duluth and Kevin (Sandy) of Woodbury, Minn.; his grandchildren: Matthew, Bryan, Katie, Cody, Courtney, Tyler and Luke; his nephews: Dave, Scott (Mary), Dan, and Craig (Nancy) Gunderson, all of the Seattle area; and many close friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 2pm until the 3pm memorial service at Dougherty Funeral Home with Rev. Kari Jutila officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 4430 McCulloch St., Duluth, Minn. 55804 would be appreciated
