Richard (Dick) Goar passed away on November 18, 2014. He was born in Faribault, MN and moved to Duluth as a young child. After H.S. he entered the Air Force and was honorably discharged. He married Judy (Maki) on August 29th, 1964.He went to school to be an Electronic tech before starting UMD. Dick had a rewarding 36 year career with Great Lakes Gas Trans. Co.
After retirement he became a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and volunteered at St. Bens doing everything and anything that was asked of him. During this time he battled cancer and was an inspiration to those around him. He also had a passion for traveling and his last trip to Europe was in April to Rome for the Canonization of the Saints.
Dick loved his family and will be greatly missed by loving wife, Judy; sons, Dennis (Michelle) of Glenwood City Wi, and Michael (Amy) of Duluth; four grandchildren, Benjamin (Ollieanne), Zachary, Cory, and Noah; 2 great grandchildren, Camdyn, Brynleigh Jo; two brothers, Jerry (Sharon), and Tom (Joyce) of Duluth; and numerous, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
The family would like to thank all of Dick's caregivers from Essentia.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Knights of Columbus Prayer Walk C/O St. Benedicts Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Rosary 6:30PM, Friday, November 21, 2014 in the Dougherty Funeral Home, visitation will continue Saturday, from 10AM until the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11AM in St. Benedicts Catholic Church, 1419 St Benedict St, Duluth, MN 55811.
