Richard Mehrman

Richard C. (Dick) Mehrman, 77, Duluth, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at his home. Dick was born April 5, 1935 in Duluth, the son of Robert J. and Margit (Oustad) Mehrman. He grew up in Woodland and graduated from East High School. He then entered the Navy Reserves. Dick worked at the family business of RJ Mehrman and Sons Plumbing and Heating where he was a master plumber, then co-owned it with his brother, Jerry. He also owned Dick Mehrman Plumbing and Heating and D.M. Excavating. He enjoyed playing hockey, racing stock cars, operating equipment such as snowplowing, excavating, and grading the road. He also enjoyed collecting and tinkering with classic and new cars. He loved spending time at the cabin at Island Lake, drinking milk and eating bananas, banana cream pie and banana bread. He liked spending time with his little dogs and going to auctions. Dick was a member of the Lake Avenue Loafers and former member of the Ridgeview Country Club, where he got a hole-in-one on July 2, 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Lon, and brother, Jerry. Dick is survived by his children, Terry (Tim) Ross of South Range, Rich and Sherry Mehrman both of Duluth; grandsons, Christopher Carl of Gulfport, MS, Alex McLeod and Dakota Mehrman-Viele of Duluth; sister Carol (Wayne) Roberts; and brother, Jim (Kathy) Mehrman; many nieces and nephews including his favorite nephews Mike Roberts and Bob Mehrman. VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 in Dougherty Funeral Home, and will continue on Friday, May 11, 2012 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service in the funeral home.
