Richard Arlen Rackliffe died Sunday, July 8, 2012, in his home. ^^Richard was born Oct. 24, 1960 to Arlen and Dorothy (Swensen) Rackliffe in Duluth. ^^Richard attended Fairmont Elementary School and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1979. Richard graduated with a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1983, and worked as senior computer programmer for Unisys, and most recently for Carefacts of St. Paul and Saturn Systems of Duluth. ^^Richard married Catherine Oraskovich on July 17, 1999. Richard and Cathy loved each other very much and their Gordon Setter dogs Lilly and Peak and their cat Pushkin. Richard also loved animals, nature, wildlife, the BWCAW, hiking, backpacking, camping and most recently Scamp camping. Richard loved travelling across the U.S. camping at National Parks with Cathy, Lilly and Peak, his constant companions, in their Scamp camper. Richard will be fondly missed by all who knew him, especially his wife whose heart aches for him. ^^Preceded in death: by his father, Arlen Rackliffe. ^^Survived by his loving wife Cathy, and his loving family; mother Dorothy Rackliffe; sister Ann (Tim) Eliason; brothers John (Jenny) Rackliffe and David (Tammy) Rackliffe, many nieces and nephews, and his precious pets Lilly, Peak, and Pushkin. ^^VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 10 a.m. to the 11 a.m. services in St. Raphael's Church, 5779 Seville Rd. Pike Lake. Burial will be at Canosia Cemetery. Memorials in Richard's name preferred to Animal Allies, 4006 Airport Road, Duluth MN 55811. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd St. (218) 727-3555. ^^
