Richard Whitman

Richard George Whitman, 82, of Duluth, passed from his temporal home to his eternal home Saturday, February 27, 2016, with his family present.
Rich was born in Pine River, MN, April 6, 1933, to Thomas and Erma. He graduated from Longville High School. Rich joined the Navy, and was stationed at the Atsugi Air Base in Japan for 3 A½ years. After, he was discharged from the navy he worked as a blaster for the Reserve Mining Company, in Babbitt, MN. He was then employed as a Patrolman for the Hoyt Lakes Police Department, for 24 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wallace, and Roger; sister, Julie.
Rich is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; son, Richard Jr.; daughter, Lisa Renee Moats; grandchildren, Angela, Tina, Abigail, Andrea, Nikki, Ryan, Robert (Aimee), Bryana (Bradley); 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne, Douglas; sisters, Dorothy, Linda, Diane; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be 2PM, Wednesday, March 2, 2016, with visitation one hour prior in the Faith Baptist Church, 5693 Maple Grove Rd, Hermantown, MN 55811.
