Rita Jean Cook, of Duluth, MN, passed away on Tuesday, December 5th after a short, but hard fought battle with bone cancer. She spent her final days surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Rita was born May 25th, 1951, in Duluth, MN. She lived her entire life in the city and home she grew up in and loved. She worked for years at A Touch of Plasch and Avenue 45, making many dear friends along the way before finally retiring in 2019.
She enjoyed spending time gardening in her yard, walking, and decorating her home, paying great attention to every ornament on her "Rockefeller" Christmas tree each year. She had a special love for her pets and animals, family and friends, but above all, adored her grandsons, Brennan and Cade. She always greeted everyone with a big smile, big laugh and lived life to the fullest.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff; parents, Joe and Agnes Stromberg; sister, Jo Ann; and mother-in-law, Amy Sowl.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Devon (Kurt) Ruberg and Nicky Cook; grandsons, Brennan and Cade Ruberg; sisters, Renee Gunderson and Terry Olmstead; father-in-law, Fred Sowl; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, including best friends, Shawn Hoover, Kim Comnick, and Sue Berg.
A Celebration of Life will be held , Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 12pm - 3pm, at the Clearwater Event Center, 5135 North Shore Drive, Duluth MN, 55804.
