Robert James Conant

Robert James Conant 87 of Duluth and formerly of Silver Bay, MN passed away in St. Luke's Hospital on February 23, 2025 with his family by his side.

Bob worked at Reserve Mining Company from 1964 to 1996. He then worked at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay, MN until his retirement. He liked to play cards with friends, go out for coffee with the boys, and taking care of his family. He lost his first wife, Jane, in 1989. He stayed by himself in Silver Bay for 14 years while he grieved. No matter where they lived, Bob found time to visit his kids. One Christmas, he took a bus to New Jersey to spend the holiday with Barb.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Frances; step-mother, Irene Conant; wife, Jane; 2nd wife, Suzanne; sister, Kathy; brother, Ken; son-in-law, Samuel Hathaway; brother-in-law, Delmer Bloomquist. Bob is survived by his siblings, Shirley Bloomquist, Roy, James, Lester, Janice, Naomi, and Susie; children, Brenda (Steve) Hathaway, Bryon (Marie), Barbara (Dirk) Burham, and Bonnie Conant; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was loved by all his children and will be greatly missed.

Visitation: Sunday, March 2nd from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E Second Street.

Funeral Service: Monday, March 3rd at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation starting at 12 noon in Sychar Lutheran Church, 14 Edison Blvd, Silver Bay, MN 55614.
