Robert D. Davidson, 85, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born December 11, 1929 in Duluth to David and Rena (Schneider) Davidson.
Robert was a journeyman sheet metal worker. He worked the majority of his years for Lester Peterson Co. and retired from A.W. Kuettel.
He served his country at the Duluth Air Base with the 179th US Air Guard during the Korean War era.
He married Loretta Binde on August 9, 1958 and they had two sons, Kirk and Neil.
Robert was a very active member of St. John's Church in Woodland. He was a lector and helped on many projects.
Robert was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 10, a life member of the United Northern Sportsman and a 4th Degree member of McGolrick Assembly 531 of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed his retirement years, fishing and hunting. He also liked to make maple syrup.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Rena; father and mother in law, Leif and Elina Binde; brother Kenneth (Alice) Davidson; sister, Dorothy (Melvin) Frantz; brother, Richard "Mick" (Zoa) Davidson; brother, Gerald "Tony" (Jean) Davidson; twin brothers, Jack and Jim; sister in law, Shirley; brothers in law, Robert McLeod, Kenneth Persen and Leif Binde, Jr.
Robert is survived by his wife, Loretta; sons, Kirk (Lisa) and Neil (Debi).
Grandchildren, Stephen Barker, Nicholas, Kaleigh and Rebekah Davidson; step grandchildren, Pam, Sandi and Andrew; five step great grandchildren; sister, Carol McLeod; brothers, David "Harry" (Virginia "Toots"), Donald, William "Bill" (Ginny); sisters in law, Iris Davidson Archibald, Lorraine Persen, Dee Ann Binde; and too many nieces and nephews to mention.
The family would like to thank the Chris Jensen staff, especially the Birch and Willows crew, for all their loving care.
Bob was a devoted loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be today from 5-7pm with a rosary recitation at 6:30 in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Friday from 10am to the 11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. John's Church, 3 W Chisholm St. Duluth. Burial with military honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
