Robert “Bob” Keyport of Duluth, Minnesota died on November 24, 2023, at Solvay Hospice House. Bob was born January 28, 1932, in Kerrick, Minnesota to Edward and Cecelia Keyport. He attended school in Duquette, Kerrick, Bruno, and Askov, Minnesota, graduating in 1950. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota. During his college days, he met and married Mary Ellen Fischler in 1955. They were blessed with six beautiful children. Bob served two years of active duty in the Air Force and eight years in the Air Force Reserve.
As an engineer, he worked in the computer industry, gradually evolving into Operations Management. Upon retirement in 1986, Bob and Mary traveled around the world to complete genealogy research and to meet the needs of a small home-based business. They spent most of their married life in St. Paul, Minnesota, and in 2007 moved to Duluth to be closer to children and grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents, and six siblings. He is survived by his children Karen (Robert) Valdez, Bulverde, Texas; Dan (Georgiann) Keyport, Chaska, Minnesota; Douglas Keyport, Duluth, Minnesota; Robyn (Barry) Cutter, Cody, Wyoming; Barbara (Michael) Hardy, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Jane (Peter) Aas, Duluth, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
The rosary will be 9:45 AM, December 1st with visitation beginning at 10 AM. 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 4901 East Superior Street, Duluth, Minnesota, 55804. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Duluth, Minnesota.
