Robert J. "Bob" McCauley

Robert J. “Bob” McCauley, 80, of Duluth, went to be with the Lord on Friday May 3, 2024, surrounded by his family.  He was born in Superior, WI on April 25, 1944, to Ariel and Josette McCauley.  Bob graduated from Superior Central High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army 10 days later, where he served for 4 years.  He worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as the Laundry Manager for 27 years, and later at Fon-du-Luth Casino as a Surveillance Supervisor.  Bob married Ruth Allee on May 6, 1972.

Bob was an incredibly kind and witty man, always trying to make people laugh.  He enjoyed golfing, reading and watching football, especially his beloved Green Bay Packers.  Bob was very active at The Water’s Edge Church, volunteering for the food shelf and the coffee bar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Diane Hietala and Judy Erickson.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Ruth, daughters Rachel Penrose and Robin (Cheston) Lance, granddaughter Ruby Penrose, great-grandson Luke, siblings David (Sharon) McCauley, Josette Dietmeier, Sara (Jerry) O’Neil, and Steven (Jean) McCauley, sisters-in-laws Laura Lee and Elnora Gulbranson, brother-in-law Richard (Nita) Allee and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday May 13th from 5PM to 7PM at Dougherty Funeral Home and on Tuesday May 14th from 11AM until Noon with Funeral Service to follow.
