Robert “Bob” A. Senta, 90, of Duluth, died Saturday, April 27, 2019 in his home with his family by his side. Bob was born Feb. 9, 1929 in Ely, to Louis and Hannah Senta, and he always said there was no better place to grow up than his hometown. Bob was very proud of his Slovenian heritage and had visited his father’s birthplace in Slovenia. He went to school in Ely until he left at a young age to attend St. Paul Seminary. After graduation he served as a priest for 17 years in the Duluth Diocese. Bob went to graduate school in Social Work at Fordham University in New York. He served as co-director of Catholic Charities in Duluth, was director of Carmel Heights Home for Girls, and until retirement, was the director of Social Services at Arrowhead Juvenile Center. Bob met his beloved Linda and they were married for 47 years. They welcomed two children, Matthew and Anna, and being their Dad was the true joy of Bob’s life.
Bob was a deeply spiritual man, compassionate and kind, and loved his work with children and families. He had a delightful sense of humor and a contagious laugh. At age 58 he added another joy to his life, golf. He so looked forward to the Tuesday breakfast and tee time with his close friends. Bob liked traveling at home and abroad; he was a knowledgeable historian; and he enjoyed driving the Sisters as a volunteer at St. Scholastica Monastery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Hannah; daughter, Anna Marie, who welcomed him; siblings, Bill, his twin, and Louis, Stan and Dolly; and in-laws, Lila and Clayton Hamilton.
Bob is survived by his wife, Linda; son Matthew; brother-in-law, Craig (Jill) Hamilton; sisters-in-law Janet and Jo Rita and many nieces, nephews and friends.
