Robert L. Slotness, 73, Duluth, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012 at his assisted living residence after a long illness. Born in Duluth, he was the son of the late Alfred and Kaspara Slotness. Bob was a 1956 graduate of Central High School and a veteran of the Navy, serving in the Mediterranean and Middle East on the USS Borie. In his younger years, he was the proud owner/operator of the service station at 5401 E. Superior Street. After many faithful years, he sold his business and worked at University Conoco until his retirement in 2008. He was fondly known as Bobbie to the majority of his loyal customers. He was predeceased by his wife Sandra; brother Alfred Jr., and his parents. He was loved greatly and will be profoundly missed by his son, Glenn (Kari) Slotness, Duluth; daughters Kirsten (Brian) Jackson, Hermantown, Hiedi (James) McMann, Apple Valley and Karin (Steven) LaTour, Oak Park Heights, Minn.; sisters, Sally Morse and Audrey (Clifford) Kolquist, both of Duluth; several nieces and nephews; 11 very special and loving grandchildren; and several in-laws. VISITATION: 12 noon Friday, Feb. 10, until the 1 p.m. memorial service in Peace in Christ Lutheran Church, 5007 Maple Grove Rd, Hermantown. Rev. Timothy Ludwig officiating. Private burial will be at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery, Hermantown, at a later date. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 727-3555.
