Romayne Marilyn Urie, 90, of Duluth, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, died Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at New Perspectives in Superior, WI. She was born in Duluth March 4, 1930 to Emil A. and Edna (Huseby) Lessard. Romayne was primarily a housewife and great mom. She had worked at the Glass Block, owned and ran DMV in Duluth for ten years with her husband Joe, and then bought the Northstar Resort in Marcel, MN with another couple. They ran that resort for many years. Romayne was an avid skier, belonged to a tennis club, was on a bowling league at Skyline and golfed at the auto club. Ro loved to camp and travel with her husband and family. Ro was involved in PTA at Piedmont Elementary School, a girl scout leader and den mother for the cub scouts. She was an excellent seamstress and crafter always making and repairing for her family and friends. She was a ‘fixer’ and could always come up with a solution for a problem. Judge Mark Munger said one day, “Ro is the boss of the neighborhood”. The Urie household was always open to family and friends, and strangers for coffee, a meal, a party, or a place to stay. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary, brothers Dale and Tom, and now she joins her husband of 72 years Joe. Ro is survived by her daughters Debby (Dave) Felske of Brainerd, Cheri Urie Kramer of Blaine, MN, son Mike (Deb) of Duluth; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to the family for a memorial bench are preferred. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery-Duluth. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 218-727-3555.
