Ronald “Ron” Johnson, 86, of Duluth, died peacefully in his sleep, Friday, Feb. 11 th at Chris Jensen Health Center. Ron was born Jan. 26, 1936, in Duluth to Arthur and Elaine Johnson. He left school to join the US Army and then transferred to the US Marine Corps, serving his country for nine years. After his discharge, Ron went to work at Diamond Tool and Horseshoe until it closed, then he went to work for St. Luke’s Hospital until his retirement. He met and fell in love with Sandy Oraskovich and they were married on Nov. 6, 1965. Ron was a member of the Landing Church; he enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, but most of all spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elaine; his sister, Sally Soumala , brother, Arthur and his son Matthew.
Ron is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Sandy; daughter, Terese Dowling; grandchildren, Bridget, and Haleigh; sister, Arlene Williams and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 15 th from 1-2pm services at The Landing Church, 9302 W Skyline Pkwy, Duluth, MN. Military honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard to follow.
