Rosemarie “Rose”Ann Ringhofer, 73, a pillar of the Meadowlands Community, died Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. She was born in Duluth April 7, 1940 to Kenneth Charles and Rosemary (Arseneau) Mahnke. Rose married Philip George Ringhofer on October 10, 1964 in Meadowlands. She worked for 30 years as a bus driver for St. Louis County Schools ISD 2142. She would drive every extra trip she could to watch her daughters play their sports. Even after health issues forced her to retire she stayed connected for many years with the kids she drove. Rose loved her church and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Meadowlands. She loved to attend the Floodwood Services and Training Adult Day Program, St. Mary’s Activity Club, and she was involved with the VFW Kral Matha 3044. An excellent cook, she also became very proficient at ceramics. Rose lived by “The Word.” She often helped the new residents at Hummingbird Assisted Living get acclimated to their new home. She was a true caregiver. Rose lived for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Philip on October 5, 2012. She is survived by her daughters: Valerie (Dave) Tracy of Meadowlands and Holly (Laura Gould) Ringhofer of Golden Valley, Minn.; her grandchildren: Zachary Lahti, Kirstin Lahti, and Brandon (Carrie Calder) Tracy; her siblings: Butch (Dianne) Mahnke, Kathleen (Mike) Bingham, Bernadette (Dean) Tuomi, Claudia (Bob Curtiss) Mahnke, and Rita (Terry) Lindner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 5 – 8 pm, with the Rosary recited at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial, all at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Meadowlands. Fr. Peter Lambert is officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Elmer. Arrangement by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 727-3555.
