Rosemary Coleman Ring, of Duluth - a former banker and ardent community volunteer - died peacefully at her home in Duluth, MN on February 9, 2013. The proximate cause of death was lung cancer.
Mrs. Ring was born on March 12, 1918 in Minneapolis, MN - the fourth child of James Patrick Coleman and Katherine Marie Neville. She completed high school at the Academy of the Holy Angels, matriculating as a member of the first class to enter the 'new' school. She attended St. Mary's College (South Bend, IN) and the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis).
She worked in customer service as a banker at the Irving Trust Company (Manhattan) and the First National Bank (Minneapolis). She married John G. Ring in May, 1950; all who knew them during their fifty years of marriage were struck by their happy, devoted and caring relationship.
Leaving the workplace after her marriage, she devoted herself to her family, her friends and her community. Volunteer activities included her son's schools and her church; she was a member of the League of Catholic Women, the American Association of University Women, the Women's Association of the Duluth Symphony Orchestra, the Duluth Day Committee, the Duluth Women's Club, Northland Country Club, the Kitchi Gammi Club and the Cathedral Parish.
She is preceded in death by her husband John G. Ring, her parents, a sister and three brothers.
She is survived by her son; John C. (Adriana van Breda) Ring of Alexandria, VA, her grandsons; John B. Ring or Rockville MD and Patrick A. Ring of Ithaca, NY, and her sister; Angela Coleman Foster of Atlanta, GA, as well as many nieces, nephews and their children.
