Ryan Ewald

Ryan Gregory Ewald, 37, passed away Saturday, September 28th as a result of an ATV accident near Aurora, Minn. He was born on July, 25th 1976 in Hibbing, Minn. to Greg and Linda Ewald.
Ryan graduated from Duluth East High School in 1995 and received a Business degree from Concordia College.
He joined the Air National Guard in 1998 and served for 15 years. He was a Crew Chief at the 148th Fighter Wing where he served several deployments, most recently in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Ryan married Amy Chilberg in 2008 in Duluth, Minn. They were blessed with their daughters Kayla, and Emma, who were his greatest pride and joy. Ryan had a very active outdoor lifestyle which he often shared with his family. His passions were football, waterskiing, wakeboarding, camping, snowboarding, four-wheeling, hunting and fishing. He was notorious for building things and helping friends and family at a drop of the hat. Ryan could bring a smile to anyone's face and was always the life of party.
Ryan was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife Amy, daughters Kayla (5) and Emma (2); parents Greg and Linda; brothers Jon (daughter Anjolie) and Brett (Karen); mother-in-law Mary Laskowski; father-in-law Brian Chilberg, sister-in-law's Sarah Chilberg, Lisa Juten (Mike, Ben, Elsie & Cecelia) all of Duluth. Ryan cherished his extended family, including many aunts, uncles, cousins, high school "boys" and 148th "family."
A visitation will be held at Peace and Christ Lutheran Church, 5007 Maple Grove Road in Hermantown from 5pm-7pm on Thursday, October 3rd. The visitation will continue Friday from 10am to the start of the service at 11am. Military honors accorded by the 148th and Duluth Honor Guard following.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Kayla or Emma Ewald's education funds at Hermantown Federal Credit Union, 4477 LaVaque Rd. Hermantown, MN 55811.
