Sally (Eberhardt) Lansing of Duluth died on October 28, 2024, after a brief but fierce battle with cancer. She had just turned 50.
A 1993 graduate of Easton (PA) Area High School, Sally moved west to experience life and eventually opened a tea and art shop in Bellingham, WA. It was called Nature’s Arts. She graduated from Western Washington University in 2003 and embarked on a teaching career.
Sally moved to Aitkin, MN, to be closer to family. There she taught in the Aitkin, McGregor and Grand Rapids school districts. The writer of this obituary lured Sally to Duluth where she taught Special Education at North Star Academy.
Sally delivered wisdom, a steady heart, and a confident, loving presence. This was shared with her family and countless students, new teachers, and other mentees. We all blossomed.
Gardening was one of Sally’s passions. Duluth’s climate & soil did not stop Sally. Her effort and talents transformed our shady yard of rock, clay and misery into a stunning array of flower gardens.
Art was another passion. She recently retired to make art and children’s books. Her hand-painted Nature’s Arts storefront sign still hangs in our home.
Sally was happiest when she nestled under a fuzzy blanket with pets and/or kids on or around her. She’d read books, drink tea, and watch garden shows or amateur detectives solving murders in quaint English settings.
Sally was preceded in death by her late husband, Todd Cote; parents, Tom & Elinor Eberhardt; and her grandparents, Lawrence & Thelma Dodge and Paul & Ruth Eberhardt.
She is survived by husband, Nick; daughters, Anna & Elia of Duluth, MN; her brother, Paul (Kim) Eberhardt of Chelsea, MI; beloved bonus family, Jack & Abby Lansing and Brian Lansing and Megan Hanson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The Lansings extend a special thank you to Sally's many caregivers at Essentia Health in Duluth and Lovelace Medical Center of Albuquerque, NM.
A Celebration of Sally’s Life will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Zeitgeist Arts, 222 E Superior Street in Duluth. The gathering begins at 5 pm with a Memorial Service at 6 pm.
Memorials are preferred to Memorial Blood Centers of Minnesota instead of flowers. Plants rarely survive under husband Nick’s care, and he thinks they have too many vases already (Sally disagreed with that last point). Please also donate blood if you can. Sally received many transfusions this year. They extended and improved the quality of her life. Giving blood will have a real impact on many others like Sally.
