Shirley June Johnson, age 93, of Duluth, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at home. She was born in Duluth June 24, 1928, to Alex and Philomena “Minnie” (Reed) Sylvester. Shirley married Robert Wayne Johnson on August 14th, 1948 . Shirley was a lifetime member of the former Woodland United Methodist Church and now Hope United Methodist Church. In the past, she was president of her children’s PTA for several years. She belonged to a bowling league for many years, and she was a long-time curling club member where she served as president of the Duluth Women’s Curling Club. Shirley also belonged to the Pike Lake Golf League well into her 80’s. She is the surviving member of the Otter River Road Clique. Shirley worked as a realtor at KSA for 12 years. She was the co-owner of Serendipity for 16 years. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Robert on May 4, 1994. She is survived by her children: Lynn Surrell, Steve (Karin) Johnson and Gayle (Roger) Healy, all of Duluth; her six grandchildren: Leah Fredericks, Kyle Surrell, Timothy (Angela) Johnson, Heather (Matt Marty) Johnson, Matthew Healy and Jack Healy; six great-grandchildren; her sister Dolores “Dode” Olson, and brother-in-law Kirk (JoAnne) Johnson.
VISITATION: Friday, Sept 16th, at 10:00am and will continue until the 11:00am Memorial Service at Hope United Methodist Church, 301 W St. Marie St, Duluth. Inurnment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
