Sophie Szybczynski

Sophie A. Szybczynski, 101, of Duluth, passed away on Thursday February 6, 2020 at the Benedictine Health Center. She was born in Duluth on January 15, 1919 to Joseph and Antonia Szybczynski. She worked as a stenographer for U. S. Steel, retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, its Rosary Society and choir. The family wishes to thank the staff at Benedictine Health Center for the kind and compassionate care Sophie received.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings Helen Krajewski, Victoria Berg, Rose Marsh, Henry “Hank” Szybczynski, Irene Cullen, and Walter Szybczynski.

She is survived by nieces Donna Tratnik, Sandra Craven, Teresa Schleich, and Julie Szybczynski, a nephew Joseph Szybczynski, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 12, 2020 from Noon until the 1:00PM Mass of Christian Burial in the Benedictine Chapel. 935 Kenwood Ave. Duluth, MN 55811. Burial will be in Polish Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home. 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805. 218-727-3555.
