Stanley George Janczak, 91, of Esko, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Solvay Hospice House. Stanley was born April 12, 1921, in Duluth, the son of Joseph and Sophie (Sojka) Janczak. He grew up in Duluth and attended Denfeld High School. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corp on Aug. 6, 1942, and served in the Hawaiian and Tongareva/Penrhyn Islands, until his honorable discharge on Dec. 19, 1945. He married Betty L. St. George. Stanley was employed at Conwed for 22 years. Stanley enjoyed working in the woods, traveling, seeing his granddaughter, reading the Bible, listening to Christian Ministries, and spending time with his son and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank (Audrey) Janczak; sisters, Florence Lofald, Margaret Pederson, Irene (Ted) Bassa, and Dorothy (Edward) Bussa, and brother-in-law, Phil Bassa. Stanley is survived by his son, Tad of Esko; daughter-in-law, Anna Janczek of Wrenshall; granddaughter, Sarah Janczak of Wrenshall; brother, Wallace (Eileen) Janczak of Duluth; sisters, Marie Bassa of Duluth, and Marcella (Art) Thompson of Esko; brothers-in-law, Marvin Lofald of Hermantown, and Howard Pederson of Pike Lake, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to express their heart-felt thanks to Jan Peterson and Rev. Steve Wlosinski for their kindness and prayers. They also wish to thank the staff and volunteers at the Solvay Hospice House for their excellent care and concern. VISITATION: 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 until the 2 p.m. funeral service in Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 East 2nd Street, Duluth.
