Stella Dryke

Stella Kathleen Dryke, 83 of Duluth passed away on Thursday December 14, 2017. She was born in Pinewood, MN to Iver and Jose Hoven on September 30, 1934. She married Robert L. Dryke on September 10, 1955. Stella was a homemaker raising nine children, running a large day care center, and working as a private nanny in later years. She enjoyed gardening, outdoor landscaping, making jams, jellies and canning. She loved her children and grandchildren and raising them. There was always room at her table for one more child, she was “Nana” to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert L., brothers John Hoven and Alfred Hoven, sisters Pearl Anderson, and Jane Langerak.
She is survived by her children Steve, Tom, Robyn, Luci, Mike (Geri Ann), Jill, Peggy Jo (Ken), Jake (Kathy) and Jason, brother Iver Hoven, 17 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 3, 2018 from 1:00PM until the 2:00PM Memorial Service at Family of God Lutheran Church, 4097 Martin Road, Duluth, MN 55803. Inurnment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home. 600 E. 2nd Duluth, MN 55805. 218-727-3555.
