Tara Anne (LaVoy) Lien, 50, of Duluth, MN passed away unexpectantly in her sleep on September 17, 2023. She was born on October 18, 1972, to Jack and Nancy (Luoma) LaVoy and was a life-long resident of Duluth. After graduating from Duluth East High School in 1991, Tara attended cosmetology school and found her passion in helping others look and feel their best. She loved the arts and was a talented artist who enjoyed painting portraits. She married the love of her life, Brad Lien on September 20, 2003, and together they had three beautiful children.
She was a loving wife and mother whose first priority in life was the care and well-being of her family. She enjoyed the warm summer days when she could go kayaking in Lake Superior with her children, especially Wednesday when they could take in the concerts of Glensheen from their lakeside perspective. Tara was humble and kind and believed everyone should be treated equally. She had a remarkable sense of compassion and always found the good in someone. She will be remembered for her incredible warmth, captivating smile, and great sense of humor. Whether you were sitting in Tara’s salon chair or next to her at a gathering, you were sure to be entertained and surrounded by laughter.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Brad; her children, Rex, Amara, and Cullin; her father, Jack LaVoy; her sisters, Brigette (Stephen) Tyson, and Heather (John) Klemme; father-in-law, Greg Lien; several nieces and nephews; many extended family and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy LaVoy, and her mother-in-law, Jane Lien.
