Thomas Annear, Sr.

Thomas David Annear Sr., 8-1-35 to 12-9-18, died Sunday at the Minnesota St. Veterans Home, Silver Bay, MN.  Tom was born in Duluth to William and Ann Annear.  After high school, Tom served in the US Air Force for four years, spending three years in France.  Tom and MaryRae Haugen were married in 1961.  Tom worked in the service dept.  at Emerson Olds and retired from Duluth Dodge.  After his retirement, Tom joined our staff as a funeral assistant.  We loved working with him. He was very active at St. Michael’s Church, serving on the parish council, sung in the choir and was an usher for over 50 years.  Tom was a 3rd and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus; member of the Lester Park Men’s Club; the Red Caps; he volunteered for several years at the Bob Hope Classic; he loved all the sports, especially golf.  Tom loved the KC Camporee, a good brandy, anything to do with golf and most of all, spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ann; brothers, Bill and Jim; infant sisters, Catherine and Mary Elizabeth.

Tom is survived by his wife, MaryRae; daughters, Elizabeth (Scott) Smith and their daughters, Lauren and Taylor of Larsmont, MN; Barbara (Tim) Evans and their children, Jacob, Bailey and Lindsey of Lake Nebagamon, WI; Tommy (Stacy) Annear Jr. and his daughter, Mariah of Duluth and his extended family. The family gratefully acknowledges the love, respect and exceptional care given to Tom by the staff at the Silver Bay Veterans Home.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 14th from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue Saturday from 9am to the 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael’s Church, 4901 E Superior St. Duluth.  Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Twig.  Memorials are preferred and may be directed to Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Shelf, 4503 Airpark Blvd., Duluth, MN  55811 or Minnesota State Veterans Home, 56 Outer Dr., Silver Bay, MN  55614.   Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd St. Duluth, MN  55805, (218) 727-3555.
