Thomas J. Muehlberger, 84, of Two Harbors left this earth to go to his heavenly home on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Veterans Home in Silver Bay.
He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on November 19, 1930 to John and Teresa (Rychlicki) Muehlberger.
Tom went to Vocational School in St. Paul, learning his trade as a machinist and die maker. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sargent and was a Machinist Instructor during the Korean Conflict. Tom was a member of Holy Rosary and was a Eucharistic Minister there, a Moose Member, and a Lifetime member of the Two Harbors American Legion.
Tom was united in marriage to Donna Lorene Fulton on May 5, 1956. They raised 4 children. Tom moved his family to the North Shore in 1968, where he worked for United Farm Agency and United National until he started his own company of Superior 'N' Forest Real Estate in the 1990's working side by side with his wife for 44 years retiring in 2014. He also owned and operated Lake County Land & Abstract Company from 1975. Other ventures included working for 3M as a Tool & Die Maker, owned and operated Gooseberry Park Motel and Cabins for 6 years, and Gas for Less gas station for 10 years. Tom's enjoyed trips to Las Vegas with his wife, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Val, sisters Pelagia and Cecelia, son-in-law Major (Ret.) James McMillian and his grandson Robert Michael Muehlberger.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Donna, daughters Jean V. (Jim) James of Two Harbors, MN, Teresa M. McMillian of Harlingen, TX, sons Michael R. (Judy) Muehlberger, and Thomas F. (Susan) Muehlberger both of Duluth, MN, grandsons Jeremy, Jason (Annette) James and Matthew McMillian, granddaughters Kristine (Tyler) Foster, Jennifer (Jeff) Tharalson, Kari (Jon) Carlson, Sara (Tom) Rheaume, Lisa Muehlberger and Michelle Muehlberger, great-grandchildren Nathaniel, Lindsey, Alexis, Jordon, Jenna, Ericka, Renee, Sean, Joseph, Cian, John Thomas, Logan, Connor, Aidan, and Jeffery.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Edgewood Vista of Hermantown and the Silver Bay Veterans Home for the excellent care Tom received.
Visitation will be held on Monday April 6, 2015 from 5pm to 7pm with a 6:30pm Rosary Recitation in Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth 55805, and will continue on Tuesday April 7, 2015 from 10:00am until the 11:00am Mass of Christian Burial in Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 E. 4th Street, Duluth, MN 55812. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral home. 218-727-3555.
