Thomas Rooney

Thomas Peter (Pete) Rooney 79, of Lakeside died Wednesday, June 06, 2012 at St. Marys Hospice, surrounded by his family. Peter was born Feb. 22, 1933 in Superior to Thomas Eugene and Eva (Robertson) Rooney. He graduated from Superior Cathedral High School and then joined the Marine Corps. Peter was very proud to be a Marine, Semper Fi. After the service, Pete married Marion Marnie Reavill on March 5, 1953. He retired after 28 years with the St. Louis Sheriffs Dept. and then worked eight years for the U.S. Marshals Office in court security until his retirement. Peter was a member of St. Michaels Church and the Police and Peace Officers Union. Peter loved to golf, travel with Marnie, winter in Sarasota, and most of all spend time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Eugene and Eva. Peter is survived by his wife, Marnie; daughters, Kathy (Bruce) Michon, Duluth, Nancy (Jim) Koester of Dubuque, Iowa, Betsy (David) Bartel, Jean (Tom) Stabe, Cindy Stabe and Sally (Tim) Maddy all of Duluth; son, Timothy (Paula) Rooney of Duluth; brothers, Michael (Vicki) of Minneaplis and Mark (Pam) of International Falls; sisters, Marlys (John) Schuerman of Burlington, Wis., Martha (Bob) Byrne and Mary (Don) Peterson both of Superior, and Rene Russom of Brainerd, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
