Age 53, died peacefully in her home on November 18th, 2022. She was born in Duluth, Minnesota on August 19, 1969 to Joann Mathison and Thomas Pfuhl.
Tina graduated from Central High School and was employed at Pinewood where she earned the title “Best Unplugged Shredder”. Tina retired in 2021 where she enjoyed spending time with friends and staff at her home. Tina would spend her days working on sensory activities and enjoyed making her staff and peers around her laugh. Her laugh was contagious and would bring light to the room.
Tina overcame many obstacles in life but was always trying to learn new things to be as independent as she could be. She was smart and sophisticated and when it came to learning new tasks, she was always a step ahead of you. Tina was an avid coffee drinker and would shake her picture of coffee at staff to let them know it was time for another cup. Tina enjoyed the small things in life like listening to music to feel the vibrations on her cheek, but some of her favorites were spending time swinging, going out to eat and enjoying a sweet treat.
DRCC is very grateful to Tina’s friends and staff at DRCC Willow, and especially those who cared for her in her final days at home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. Second Street, Duluth with a Visitation beginning at 10am.
