Velma Leona Harris, 99, of Duluth, died Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living-Proctor. She was born November 21, 1918 in Hampton, IA to Samuel and Anna Stokes. Velma married Albert Verne Harris. She had worked as a secretary for insurance companies. In Hampton, she was a member of First Christian Church. In Duluth she attended St. Andrew by the Lake Episcopal Church. Velma was full of love for family and friends and enjoyed caring for others. She enjoyed sports, bridge, fishing, dancing, study club and golfing. She was preceded in death by her husband Verne and by seven siblings. Velma is survived by her daughter Pam Elifritz of Duluth, and many nieces and nephews. Thanks mom and aunt Velma with love from your daughter, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Velma’s family extends a thank you to The Rev. Marta Maddy and St. Andrews by the Lake Episcopal Church, St. Luke’s Hospice, and Diamond Willow Assisted Living-Proctor. A celebration of life of 99 years, for a very special lady will be on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 11 AM with a visitation beginning at 10 AM at St. Andrews by the Lake Episcopal Church, 2802 Minnesota Ave. Burial will be at Hampton Cemetery, Hampton, IA at a later date.
