Vera Goodrow

Vera V. Goodrow, age 95, of Duluth, passed on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation.  She was born in Medina, North Dakota on November 21, 1921 to Josiah and Edith (Woolcott) Long.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, it’s ladies circle and Bible study; the Birthday Club, and a member of the Garden Club.  She had worked at Lester Park Greenhouse and was in charge of the plants at MP&L.  She enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, painting, woodcarving and writing.  She was an excellent seamstress.  Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Josephine, as a baby, Alfred, and Ethel; her husband, Hilton H.; her children, Robert Knutson, Vera Ellen Werner, Claudia Harmer, Dennis Goodrow, and grandchildren Wynn and Velora.  Vera is survived by her children:  Dwayne (Evelyn), Dale, Kathleen Currie, Sharon Messmer and Sidney; her son-in-law Roger Werner; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren .She was an inspiration to many people. Memorial services will be held at 1 PM, Monday, July 17, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 300 E. Second St., Duluth.  Entombment will be at Sunrise Memorial Park, Hermantown.  Memorials are preferred, and may be directed to First Presbyterian Church.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 218-727-3555.
