Verna Porter

Verna Luella “Lou” Porter, 86, of Duluth, passed away on Saturday June 24, 2017. She was born on the Fond du Lac Reserve on December 28, 1930 to late Margaret Carribou and Louis Smith. Lou worked as a seamstress for many years and retired from UMD in 1999 as a custodial engineer.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, stepdaughter Linda, and step-granddaughter Jasmine Winchester.
Lou is survived by her husband Matthew, stepchildren Rose Drew-Miller, Mary (Dwight) Porter-Williams, Jeanine Chapman, Michael Porter, Eileen (James) Darby, Matthew and Joel Martineau, 2 God-children, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
