Veronica "Vicki" Ann (Sheehan) Peterson, 55, passed away in the arms of her loving husband on Sunday, November 2, 2014, at her home in Duluth, Minnesota.
She was born November 15, 1958 in Biloxi, Mississippi, to Thomas Edward and Barbara Jeanne Sheehan.
Veronica lived many places growing up, including Biloxi, Mississippi, Riverside and Inglewood, California, as well as Duluth, Minnesota. She attended elementary school at St. Jean's in Duluth, and Centinela in Inglewood, California. She attended Ordean Junior and East Senior High schools in Duluth. She lived most of her adult life in the Duluth area, and worked among other places at Amsoil in Superior, Wisconsin, and Potlatch/Sappi, in Cloquet, Minnesota.
She was a woman who had an abundance of interests. She was a self-described foodie, and an outstanding cook. She loved to travel. She had passions for history and genealogy, and was a member of several history and genealogy clubs. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, and was seldom without a project. She was a person who was ever curious; from early childhood, Veronica was always one to question what, how, and why, and she was an avid reader. She loved books, and her library was large. She was very knowledgeable on a wide-ranging variety of subjects. Above all, Veronica loved her family. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren, and was a part of a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Anderson.
Veronica is survived by her devoted husband of 22 years, Steven Donald Peterson; Children, Tara (Michael) Jonas of Superior, Wisconsin, Jeffrey Burns, Stephanie Peterson, and Wendy Burns of Duluth; Grandchildren, Ava and Trista of Superior, Wisconsin, Zoey, Kole, and Mariah of Duluth; Father, Thomas (Cecilia) Sheehan, Sr. of Bulhead City, Arizona; Stepfather, Michael Anderson of Duluth; Brother, Thomas (Kayoko) Sheehan, Jr. of Carpentersville, Illinois; and Sister, Rebecca "Becky" Sheehan of Duluth; plus many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins, too numerous to name.
Veronica will be remembered for the amazing strength and courage with she faced the adversity that came with the many illnesses she battled in the final years of her life.
She will be sincerely missed.
SERVICE - A gathering for family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, at Dougherty's Funeral Home, 600 E. Second Street, Duluth, MN. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 7, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 1419 St. Benedict Street, Duluth, MN.
